Maria Sharapova Back Injury Forced From Brisbane Tournament
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova withdrew from the Brisbane International, which will be held in January, because he was hit by an ankle injury, but he hopes to follow the Australian Open in mid-month.

Sharapova sprained left ankle when he followed the Pan Pacific Open tennis tournament in September, and he is still bothered by the injury.
 
 
 
"I am really looking forward to start the season 2012ku at Brisbane International, which has a fantastic reputation as a venue and a great opener," Sharapova said in a statement.

"Unfortunately my ankle is not in 100 percent condition, and I will not do it this year."

But former Wimbledon champion, U.S. Open and Australian Open is said that he hopes to compete at the Australian Open, which will be held in Melbourne on January 16.
"I hope to have ready for the first Grand Slam of the year, and I am really looking forward to competing in the field," he added.
 



 
Brisbane International is the WTA and ATP tournament, which was held on January 1 to 8. For women's tennis, Serena Williams, Samantha Stosur, and Kim Clijster is sure to appear.
